This is the Christmas season for 2020.
It has been a tough year for many and for a lot of people will be glad when it is over.
It is a time for giving and to reflect back at the blessings that you may have had.
A number of people have little to feel blessed about. I understand this, but I would like to point out a few things.
First and most importantly, is the fact that we had to slow down the rat race we live in. There are many family and relationships that have been rekindled and brought closer together because of our situation.
Although there are numerous amounts of people who are living on a shoestring, I believe there are more people who actually have more resources saved. The money not spent on eating out, not traveling, sporting events, the list goes on and on.
For the folks who are lucky enough to maintain their jobs or just always had discretionary income, this worldwide pandemic is more of a nuisance than a worry.
This has to be a time when people can give, not always a monetary gift, but a friendly gift. The type of gift showing friendship, a hello, a show of kindness. Just because we have to secure our faces behind a mask doesn’t mean that the folks around us don’t exist.
Say good morning, open a door, mention what a nice day it is. Let the people around you know that they are human and that you are human too. All of these people are needed, the cleaners, the waiters and waitresses, car parkers, tip them well. If you are doing well, share some of your good fortune. I believe when you share good it will return to you in tenfold. When things get back to normal you will be glad that these people are still here.
So, this Christmas Season, help someone you know who aren’t as fortunate as you with some hope for their and everyone’s future.
And remember, don’t forget to visit your local jeweler, his family has to eat too.
