#105 - Plastic Bags

Now this story is going to get me in trouble.

This is nothing new for me, I always was in trouble with my mom. Then my teachers and now my wife.

This story is about the plastic bags we used at the store. We use these bags to put jewelry into for repair.

When jewelry needs to taken apart the stones, the gold is separated and put into plastic bags.

Now we have plastic bags of varying degrees of density and strength and I have found it is to our advantage to use high quality bags. These bags come in an array of sizes depending on what is going into them.

After 40 years of doing this business I finally found what I think is the bag people of all time. They are located in Northern California. You have to understand that a typical bag may cost .0002 penny a piece. Its like I can buy thousands and thousands of bags for 3 0r 4 hundred dollars. I mean enough to last our operation 5 to 10 years.

The thing is my employees (some of them) have a hard time giving some of our clients a new bag when we return something to them. They insist on giving them an old beat-up bag that looks like it had drugs in it.

When I ask why we are using this type of bag I get the response “do you have any idea what a pain in the behind this person was to deal with?”

I always say, “that stupid bag cost next to nothing!”

Just so that I can get into trouble again… If you leave our store and you have one of these old worn-out bags, I guarantee you did something to upset someone around here.
