#100 - How Much Is 100?

So, this issue of the Gem Expert newsletter is #100. This might sound like a lot but then again, maybe not.

Like a 100-dollar bill doesn’t seem like a lot anymore but 100-hundred-dollar bills might seem like a lot more.

One hundred days in jail most people can do that standing on their head, but 100 years!! That’s different.

Now I started to compare the number of episodes in a TV series to the number of newsletters I write. It used to be as many as 32 episodes per season, but it has gone down to 20 or less. They found it was better to have impact stories and run them less often rather than run the risk of having viewers lose interest.

I write a story every 2 weeks, that’s 26 a year, four more issues and I will have 4 complete years under my belt. I know that a lot of TV shows don’t make it four years.

102 carat diamond sold for $22 million

This isn’t a TV show, its supposed to be about gems.

Try this, there are 100 points to a carat, and a one carat amethyst isn’t much money wise or purple wise, but a hundred carats amethyst, now there is a lot of purple!!

A hundred points of diamond make a 1 carat stone and can be costly, but 100 carat diamond, few are around and fewer can afford them.

One of the longest running TV shows was called “Gunsmoke” it aired for 20 seasons and had 635 episodes from the 50’s thru the 70’s. That is a lot and when I started, I had no clue how many episodes I would have, after all how much can you write about stones?

So I got to thinking that maybe I should change the name from “Gem Expert” to “Smoky Quartz” and sharpen my pencil and take a run at those writers over at “Gunsmoke”.
